W. Edwards Deming, the American Statistician who revolutionized Japanese manufacturing after World War II - was a stickler for understanding the purpose - of a meeting, a book or a process. In his classic book, Out of The Crises - he started each chapter with a paragraph on the purpose of the chapter.  If I'd done that with each of my books - I could have saved a lot of rewrites from my editor.  In memory of Dr. Deming - I outline here in my first post on the New Brain Brew Cafe blog my purpose.
